"Please don't call me a king."
AAAAAAAAH!!!! Loookit loooookit LOOOOOOOKIT!!! *_* Crono x Magus makes me happy. *_*

But to the topic quote... that's one of Edward's new lines from the retranslated FFIV. Final Fantasy Chronicles is proving just as awesome as I'd imagined... Y'know what's funny, though? I'd been hearing people say that CT was fast loading but FFIV was laggy; it's actually the other way around. FFIV seems faster than the SNES cart (except while saving), but CT is very slow, especially in battles. Oh well, I'll slog through it somehow.

Yay, today's Independence Day here in the USA. I'm thrilled. ;p

"In your dreams, magical thoughts..."
The above is part of the opening song on Lunar 1. It has nothing to do with the rest of this entry. Whee. ^^

Well, I'm waiting on pins and needles to see if Final Fantasy Chronicles will show up today. If it doesn't, well, tomorrow's Independence Day...so no mail ;_;

I can't believe this. I was gone for one day because our Internet dial-up line went out and then I come back to...Iris. She sent an email to the "veterans" of Winged Haven suggesting we should make a private board for ourselves because she doesn't like all the newbies coming in. This from IRIS, one of the sweetest girls in the world! How could this happen? How could you be such an ass to even suggest such a thing!? o_o; I thought I knew the girl, as well as you can know an online friend, but apparently not. The whole business leaves me feeling quite betrayed. I can't believe Iris would pull this elitist crap...it's not worthy of her. Iris...if you actually happen to be reading this (schyeah right, no one reads my blog but me and Darren Shan ;p), I'm sorry if I sound like a jerk, but this really upsets me. Separating people... Elitism, INEVITABLY will lead to the end of the board. Please trust me. I've seen it happen too many times.

"You spoony bard!"
Tellah's line, above, is supposedly one of the few that have been kept for the retranslation of Final Fantasy IV. I went looking for FF Chronicles at Wal-Mart today (we don't have any proper video game stores like Babbage's, Electronics Boutique, etc. where I live)... naturally, it wasn't in yet... but Mom let me order FFC off of Amazon!! *_* Will wonders never cease!? Yaaay... in a matter of a week I'll have retranslated FFIV and Chrono Trigger '99 in my hands... *_____*

I've been on a bit of a Wild ARMs kick lately--I played 1 for a while, then switched to 2nd Ignition.... hehe, Advanced 3rd is going to be sweeeeet. I had a look at the screenshots awhile ago... *grin* I really hope it gets a better translation than the last two games have, though. WA1 really suffered in the story department because it was hard to understand, and I get the feeling that 2I would have been quite hilarious if the jokes had been translated properly... I've rooted out several places where the dialogue is making a very stilted attempt at humor. And then when Liz and Ard show up... aughh, you're bound to get a headache about then. x_X;; I wish there was at least some kind of fan translation for the two games, but oh well. *sigh*

IRL, since I'm about ready to take my driver's test, my dad let me back on the computer. (^_^;;)

"Our hearts have a place for him... we may not know why.
Perhaps because he represents the tormented hero...
Maybe because we all have a Schala in our lives..."

I love that poem. ^_^ If you like Chrono Trigger stuff, you can find the rest of this at fanfiction.net. (Yeah, I took my fics off, but I still read stuff there. Hypocritical, ain't I?) I believe it's called "A Tribute to Magus" or somesuch.

Lessee... Rya-chan has a new blog layout and she moved over here to Pitas! Her link's above in the Friends section. Go look at the layout, it's a cute Rya-style Ken from Digimon. *^^*

Well, tomorrow's the last day of Vacation Bible School, and my last day helping with the music class. Bad point: Less singing. Good point: I can sleep in an hour later. ^_^; I hate getting up early...mornings are eeeeeevil x_X;; Bad point: No more enthusiastic third-grade class. Good point: ...no more enthusiastic third-grade class... ^^;

Phew. *crosses fingers* I hope I get Flea's part in that radio play! Root for me, everybody! ^_^;

"I have no topic quote for today. Isn't that horrible?"
Hehe. *waves at Darren Shan* Hello, Mr. Shan. ^_^

Okay, for everyone else... read down several entries and find the one where I talk about Cirque du Freak. Mr. Shan visited the Daily Nonsense (woah, people actually read this thing!?) and personally emailed me kudos on the page. XD XD *bounces* That made my day. ^____^ (And on a side note...ughh, I can't believe the next Darren Shan Saga book doesn't come out until August. -.-;)

In other news, the radio play is going quite well. I cast Ruby yesterday (Holly-chan), and will probably cast Princess as Lucia today... I have to wait for Cuteken's and Tomoyo's promised Hiro auditions before I can decide on that one. I'm having a bit of trouble finding the SFX I want, though... Oh well, I'll get it done eventually. And speaking of radio plays--I auditioned for Flea in a CT play yesterday. *grin* I really hope I get the part... Flea is such a blast to play...

IRL, I've been helping out with Vacation Bible School at the local Baptist church all this week. My friend Candace (our former youth minister at the church) is directing, and she roped me into helping her in the music room. ;) It's been fun. Normally I don't get on too well with young kids, but it's not so bad when you have something to do with them.

"I have never seen a pink flying pig before!"
*grin* The above is from Lunatic Parade, a Lunar 2 doujinshi that I'm adapting into a radio play. (Well, part of it, anyway. I'd intended to do the whole thing but recently found out that other people've been playing with it too over on FLAVA.) If anyone's interested, auditions are still open for Hiro, Lucia, and Ruby (although Lucia closes next Wednesday)... ^^ This is gonna be so much fun. I made sure to pick something small so I could finish it...it's my first radio play project. LOL, I haven't even been in any productions and here I am doing my own... XD

Well, I had a pretty good week of vacation. Good loot included a bunch of clothes, a new purse-ish type thing, Deja Vu I&II for Game Boy Color, and several books, including Fiona Patton's The Painter Knight which is one of the best novels I've read in a long time. Heck, it's good enough that it even gave me fanfic ideas... and even Harry Potter usually gives me trouble with fanfic ideas... o.O

"Courage has different meanings..."
The line above is from my favorite part (Chapter 6-6, "Grey Rain") in Aywren's masterpiece, the FFIV fic Coming of the Darkstar. I've been rereading the story in bits and pieces lately, since she's long done with editing... LOL, I'm even contemplating getting back on the ML. (I was one of the inaugural members of the Dragons of Darkstar, but I left when the list traffic got way too heavy for me to handle... I don't like reading tons of email @_@.) Anyway, it's a great fic... read it now. ;p I love Aywren's two characters, the White Mage and the Black Mage... and of course, I love the way she handles Kain (mostly), and Edge, and Cecil, and especially Golbez... she writes a great Silverlining... Actually, I think the *only* complaint I've ever had about the story is Chase. I don't like him much, and thus the ending of the story was a bit of a disappointment for me... (well, it was in more ways than one, but primarily because it focused on Chase). But these're tiny flaws compared to the overall excellence of the story. I'd say this is one of the greatest fanfics ever written.

And guess what? I can't think of anything else to talk about, so I'm gone. ;)

"Just like me/You got needs/And they're only a whisper away..."
"...And we softly surrender/To these lives that we've tendered away..."

These lyrics are from "Bed of Lies" by Matchbox 20. I love that song. XD But the lyrics don't sound quite as good without Rob Thomas's impassioned performance of 'em... may I suggest that you either d/l the MP3 or buy the CD? This one's from their newest album Mad Season.

Gyahh... just replied to one of Nakuru's posts over on WH in the webdesign section... I hope I didn't sound like an idiot. She was talking about age discrimination against over-18 people (by the younger set, y'see) when it comes to webdesign issues... and I don't think I really answered her question. ^^;; oh well...

"He's dead! The weak always drop dead like flies!"
The above quote is from the Japanese version of the game Chrono Trigger. (Y'know, up on the North Cape where you talk to Magus? After
Crono dies
? Where one of Magus's lines is, "He's history... play with fire and you get burned"? Well, this is what he actually said there. Maou ain't a very nice fellow, is 'e? XD) Hehe... I've been lurking around this thread on the GameFAQs Chrono Trigger board where this guy is posting up stuff about his(re)translation efforts on CTjp. It's really quite interesting... apparently, by Japanese standards, Magus curses like a sailor (in a general sense--that is, he uses extremely offensive forms of address and such) and the Mystic Trio all have thick accents except Slash; because of this latter fact, the translator hypothesizes that the Mystics actually have a separate language of their own. He has some other hypotheses too, and they're all pretty interesting... I don't have the exact URL handy, but if you wanna take a look then head to GameFAQs, find the Chrono Trigger (SNES version) message boards, and look for a thread titled "Japanese version diffs". I think it's on the first page right now...

In RL news, I went to a school banquet thingie last night (even though school's already out). It was our annual academic banquet where they give out awards for good grades and stuff... I got my second-year academic letter and I also got a special certificate for my ACT score. (30, if anyone's interested. I hope it doesn't sound like I'm bragging. ^^;;;) It was kinda neat, although it was held in the school cafeteria, and the food didn't taste much better than we usually get out of there. >_@;;

"There is a fine line between coincidence and fate."
The above is a line from The Mummy Returns (saw it in the theater on Saturday)... The Medji leader guy (y'know, the one from the last movie with all the facial tattoos?) said it... dang, wish I could remember his name. -.-;;;

Well, golly gee whiz, it's June. Summer's whizzing by at lightspeed here... @_@;; Gyosh, before you know it I'll be back in school...but that's an unhappy line of thought so I ain't goin' there. ;p *doesn't really wanna be a junior.*

I read the greatest book Saturday... it's called Cirque du Freak, by Darren Shan. (The main character is also named Darren Shan. It's not quite self-insertion, though... and believe me, this is one story nobody in their right mind would want to be inserted into... @_@) It's about this pair of British kids that go to a frightening and very real "freak show"... and end up getting pulled into quite a mess... but I'll leave you to discover the rest of it. XD With accolades from J.K. Rowling herself on the cover, I'm sure the book won't be too hard to find; I personally picked it up in Wal-Mart's book section.

I also read a great Chrono Trigger fanfic over the weekend; it's "The Thief and the Swordsfrog" by Silent Elegy... I don't have the URL handy, but you can find it in the CT section of fanfiction.net if you're interested... This is one of the few fanfics I've read that has original characters who are actually likable. (Yeah, even out of the LoF's stuff. Sorry, guys... ^^;; Although I have always been fond of Jerm's character Marshall...) It's 11 chapters long and still going... I wish there was more. *.*

Hrm, I hope I can make myself actually study for my driver's test today. I have a feeling if I don't, Dad's going to be pretty POed at me. ^^;

"...but she was still beautiful, for she was there."
Click here ((sorry 'bout that, Beatrix ^_^;;)) to read one of the saddest fanfics I've ever been privileged to stumble across--it's nominally FFVII, but I'd say you can enjoy it even if you haven't played that game. Enjoy being a relative word, however... This story made me cry. I can't even remember the last time a story made me cry.

Whee, life is uneventful. Right now I'm on a sudden Final Fantasy VII kick... seems like I'm going through a game a day here... ;p

"we will say goodbye, just for now... 'til we meet again..."
I bought Rhapsody (for Playstation) last night, and beat it this morning. Okay, so it's not the hardest game ever invented... but if you like shoujo anime it'd be right up your alley... and there's lots of vocal songs (it is titled "Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure" ;p). And best of all, if you're a purist, you can listen to the Japanese versions of the songs. (*thanks Atlus profusely for leaving in the JP songs, even if their karaoke lyrics are horribly spaced*)

But anyway, the title's a line from the ending song, "Thank You". The ending is bittersweet... Cornet, the heroine, finally reaches her goal of getting married to the prince... and she learns a lot in the process...but... well, I won't say any more for fear of being spoily. Believe me, this isn't something you wanna be spoiled for, it's sad and sweet and beautiful and a story you should experience rather than be told about. (And the game does all this without any CG or cutscenes... it's all done in a 2D sprite-based engine...)

And in addition to all that, the translation is flawless and the characters are some of the most charming I've seen in a long time. I love the the Marjoly family. XD XD XD

Well, that's all I have to say for now. Yeah, I have Rhapsody on the brain...

"your boundless enthusiasm never ceases to amaze me." -ghaleon
Hehe, I almost put his famous "Not Ghaleon..." etc. line up there, but that's a spoiler. I'm not quite so cruel. ^_^;

Dangit, I wish I could beat Lunar 2. Or at the very least I wish I could find a way to get the glue off the L^2 soundtrack. -.-;; Isn't that horrible? My ST came glued to the stupid package!! -_- I pried it out, but there's still so much glue on the back that a lot of the tracks won't play right... My dad said he knows how to get it off, but we haven't gotten around to trying yet.

But speaking of beating L^2, I have a feeling I'll never see the Epilogue. Zophar's dungeon is brutal and my guys are underleveled and I'm too lazy to level them up... ;p Oh well, it's not like I don't already know what happens anyway.

Hey, if any Lunar fans happen to be reading this, have you ever read a L^2/Chrono Trigger crossover fanfic? I read that back before I'd even played Lunar and fell in love with it, but after Lucca's Simplenet site kind of went kablooey, it disappeared and I could never find it again. :( So if anyone knows its whereabouts, that'd be much appreciated...

Well, in other news, Dad says my computer time's going to be determined by how much of the Driver's Manual I've got memorized by next Sunday. Hurrah. -_-;;

Hurrah, new blog location. I'm going to see how I like this before I totally switch over, tho... Probably what I'll miss most about livejournal will be the "friends" function. I had Tenshi and Rya on mine. o.o Boo hoo.

But hey, look at my layout! It's all scribbly. *^^* The only thing I don't like is the big divider arrows turned out too pixelated, but oh well, nothin's perfect. ;p

I'm playing Steiner in Hikari's RPG!!! XD XD STEINER!! XD That is so utterly cool. And there's a Beatrix now, too, so there's actually someone for me to interact with. Right now they're in Treno fending off an army... supposedly from Lindblum... but if you wanna know more you have to go see for yourself. ;p

Hmm... in three months I'll be a junior. That's bizarre. o.O
